Mobile Learning?
A few weeks ago, I had done a mobile learning activity in my class. I did it with a partner. To be honest, it was a simple activity yet have a big impact on me. I could learn how to be a good teacher at the school. We used "countable and uncountable noun" for our material that day, hoping that our audience would be junior high school, first graders. To make our activity successfully, we use Nearpod, an amazing app that allowed us to make a presentation, which contains Quiz's, Polls, Videos, Images, Drawing-Boards, Web Content and so on, in a completely new way. Personally, I think this app is very suitable for a teacher. However, this is a web-based app, so you need to log-in first before you can make your presentation slide. The best thing about this app is your student can also access your presentation from any device, which connects to the internet, simply by log-in then enter a code. The only technical problem we face was when we tried to log-in in a different device. The rest mistakes were from us. My partner and I kept reading on the laptop while explaining the material, besides I kept wrong in saying whether it's countable or uncountable. Later, I need to be much more prepared than yesterday.
Let me show you how to use this incredible app.
First, you need to sign-up / log-in. I prefer to log-in with google. If you're a student, choose "join a lesson."
Right after it, you can already make your own presentation by clicking "Create"
Choose "Add Slide"
And it will give you choices like this.
Click "Add Content" if you want to add some explanation in your slide. Choose "Add Activity" if you want to make an activity such as open ended question, poll, quiz, draw-it activity, and many more.
Add content will look like this after you clicked it. Click "Text" to add explanation, "video" to add video, and so on. When you finish, click "save."
Nearpod provides many activity, draw-it is one of the activities.
When you finish the slide, click "save and exit" or you can preview it by clicking "preview."
Fill in this part and your presentation is ready!
It will look like this in your Nearpod Library.
Click "Live Lesson" so that your student can access your presentation in their device.
For the exercise, you can take some from this website.
